Job Title: SEND Assistant                                                        Salary range: £20000 to £20000

Location: Quidenham, Norfolk                                                 Contract Type: Permanent

Responsibilities of SEND Assistant:

To be on call when needed to support children with social, emotional and behavioural  

To deal with daily pastoral/behaviour issues at an appropriate level.

To take statements and collation of information in response to incidents of challenging behaviour

To form positive relationships with children and their families.

To provide a link between the school and external agencies.

To maintain records in relation to sanctions and rewards.

Develop links to ensure and enhance the understanding of the school amongst new and existing parents/carers.

To undertake training commensurate with the post.

Respect confidentiality at all times.

To understand and apply school policies in relation to health, safety welfare and child

Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.

Promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and British values within the PSHE policy and across the whole school.

Ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of the pupils and passing on information to relevant colleagues and other professionals with both concerns and positive changes.

Establish a positive relationship with pupils in order to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn.

Promote and encourage independence and personal development and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times and support in the achievement of this.

Person Specification for SEND Assistant:

A relevant Level 2 Care or Education Qualification.

Experience of working within a relevant Pastoral Support Function in a care or education setting.
